and Scott (recent university graduates), and David (now in university).
Long-Time Resident:
Lived in Ward 25 for 21 years in our current home near Bayview Avenue and York Mills Road.
Community Leader:
President of the York Mills Ratepayers Association (YMRA) for 12 years, during which time the YMRA had many accomplishments:
- Installation of the stoplight at Bayview/Tudor Gate, greatly improving turning safety at that intersection with minimal impact on traffic flow;
- resolution of York Mills Shopping Centre issues, improving quiet enjoyment and property values of neighbours;
- improvements to the zoning by-law, to protect existing property owners;
- strict adherence, by developers, to provisions of the zoning by-law;
- prevention of undesirable rezonings and land divisions;
- institution of a Neighbourhood Conservation Fund (i.e. warchest) - to address planning issues and redevelopment issues;
- development of an assessment database to assist property owners in appealing unjust assessment increases;
- a revitalized newsletter which resulted in a tripling of membership.
