Environment Day a Success!
Ward
25 residents divert over 20,000kg of waste
from landfill |

Cliff
and John Maletich help keep Ward 25 clean at this year's
Environment Day
One of the City’s most popular “green” events is the
annual Environment Day held once every summer in each
ward of the City. This year’s Ward 25 event was a great
success thanks to the hundreds of area residents who
arrived steadily throughout the day to do something
positive for our community and our environment.
575 residents participated on Environment Day, and
helped to divert 21,141kg of waste from the landfill.
That number includes 15,339kg in household hazardous
waste, 4,560kg in electronic equipment and 1,090kg of
used tires.
I thank Sheridan Nurseries for generously donating 125
tomato plants that should be thriving on balconies and
in backyards across the ward by now. I would also like
to express my appreciation to our dedicated staff in the
Works and Emergency Services Department for their hard
work in organizing such a successful event.
