Sakura Tree Planting Project |
In the spring of 2006, the City of Toronto will partner
with the Japanese consulate to introduce a unique tree
planting program called the Sakura Project which will
involve the planting more than four hundred donated
Japanese Sakura (Cherry Blossom) trees across the City
between April and June.
Toronto residents have the opportunity to participate in
this program which could involve receiving trees for an
area selected in your ward and having them planted.
How to participate & requirements:
- select a site in your community **please note, the
selected site should be relatively flat**
- indicate the number of trees you would like to have
planted
- take photos of your selected site
- sketch the
layout of the site
- provide information about the site conditions - water,
wind, soil, sun, surrounding tree's, etc.
The information must be provided by Friday, November
18, 2005 for the proposals to be reviewed by the
Consulate. Please note that not all sites may be
suitable for the growth of the Sakura trees and all
proposals will be assessed based on the ideal
environmental conditions by the Consulate panel.
