Ward 25 Ratepayers Association - Special
Meetings with Don Valley West
Provincial Candidates |
This past spring, the Ward 25 Ratepayers Association
held two special meetings with the Honourable John Tory
and the Honourable Kathleen Wynne, both of whom will be
running to represent Don Valley West in this fall’s
Provincial Election.
The purpose of these meetings was to bring together
executive members from the dozen or so ratepayer groups
in Ward 25 to meet with the candidates individually in
order to discuss five issues which ratepayers have
identified as being of vital concern to the local
community:
• Planning Act Reform
• Ontario Municipal Board Reform
• Municipal Finance/Development Charges Act Reform
• Property Tax Reform
• Election Finance Reform
Questions on each of the five topics were prepared by
the group and provided to the candidates approximately a
week in advance of their respective meetings.
Afterwards, summaries of the candidates’ responses on
each of the questions were prepared using notes taken by
members of the Ward 25 group.
